Food for the Poor: Restoring the poorest of the poor in the Caribbean and Latin America with food and water and homes. 550 SW 12th Avenue, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442. (954) 427-2222.  Charitable contributions to groups such as this have huge significance in outreaching to others, particularly in Third World countries where our dollars are multiplied many times over.  Food for the Poor, for example, indicates that a donation of $20 can buy 200 pounds of beans and rice, providing a meal of complete protein for 800 children; $50 can provide antibiotics and nutritional supplements for critically ill children; $150 can furnish a foot-pedaled sewing machine and materials for a skills-training workshop; $500 can provide the necessary school supplies to educate an entire classroom of children for one year; and $2,000 can build a basic house for a family living in a tin and cardboard shack.  God invites us to recognize His presence in the poor.  To receive a video about this ministry please call (954) 427-2222.

Christian Foundation for Children and the Aging: Making ordinary miracles possible. Grief Support Group of Southern Chester County.  Healing Our Pain Effectively (HOPE) is a grief support group formed in October 1989 by the Kennett Area Senior Center, the Kennett Area Ministerium, West Chester Psychiatric Associates, and the Kuzo and Gofus Funeral Home, Ltd.  The purpose of the group is to serve individuals who are anticipating, experiencing, or recuperating from grief.  This aid is given in the form of seminars, reading materials, films, fellowship, and friendship.  Eleanor McKinstry is the group facilitator.  Meetings are generally held on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Kennett Area Senior Center, 427 S. Institute for Theological Encounter with Science & Technology.  ITEST is an organization committed to ongoing dialog among contemporary thinkers, assessing developments in science and technology for their theological implications and to apply religious values to scientific processes. This organization was begun in 1966 when Father Robert Brungs, S. J., a physicist, and Dr. John Malschiner, a biochemist, recognized the need to alert Christian Churches to the advances in the sciences and technologies.  Among other things, this site includes videos, and an archive of articles and books published over the past several decades on matters related to faith and science.  For more information, please contact Sister Marianne Postiglione, RSM, at postigm@slu.edu or (314) 977-2703.
