Help Hotlines:  Around the Clock Assistance

Suicide Hotlines:  1-800-784-2933 (1-800-SUICIDE) or 1-800-273-8255 (1-800-273-TALK) or, for the deaf, 1-800-799-4889.  When you can't go on, please call a suicide hotline.  Let someone know your pain.  You can call these toll free, national hotlines 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Locally, you can find help through the Chester County Intervention Service at: (610) 918-2100 (1-877 918-2100).

Domestic Violence:  1 (610) 444-6797 The Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, Inc. has opened a satellite office in Kennett Square.  The agency services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, emergency and transitional housing, legal advocacy and representation, support groups, referrals, outreach and education.  There are two regular staff members, a legal advocate and a bilingual counselor.  Other staff members based in the main office in West Chester, will travel to Southern Chester County as required for appointments and consultations.  Services and free and confidential.

Adoptions From the Heart:  1 (800) 355-5500.  Adoptions From the Heart:  If you are pregnant and confused, adoption may be right for you.  Did you know that with Open Adoption you can choose and meet the parents for your child and stay in touch as he or she grows up?  The caring, trained staff at Adoptions From the Heart will answer your questions, and help and support you throughout this process.  For more information, please call the 24-Hour Help line at (800) 355-5500, or the Office at (610) 642-7200.

Birthright:  1 (800) 550-4900.  Birthright: Many women make the painful decision to abort because they feel there is no other alternative.  At Birthright, we offer women an alternative to abortion by providing real help that includes free pregnancy testing, maternity clothes, layettes, housing, adoption information, and parenting information.  In Chester County, Birthright is located at 112 South High Street in  West Chester.  You can call Birthright at (610) 436-0773; toll-free hotline - (800) 550-4900.  For information on becoming a Birthright volunteer, please call (610) 436-0773 and ask for Kathleen Bradlee.
