The
Guitar Group has served our parish faithfully for the past 15 years,
bringing beautiful music to Mass in a form that is traditional, yet
different. Instead of the customary organ accompaniment, this
ministry uses guitars, electric bass and flute as background to the
voices. The 10 musicians who comprise the group desire to serve our
Church both by helping people to praise the Lord through song and by
offering a spiritual uplifting through music at Mass.
The
Guitar Group rehearses weekly on Thursday evenings from September through
May at the Kennett Senior Center. They offer their music usually one
Saturday and one Sunday each month. The music they perform is
selected in accordance with Church scheduling so songs relate to the
week's readings. While the congregation is encouraged to join in the
familiar hymns offered by the Guitar Group, the special music at the
Prelude and meditation parts of the Mass are offered so people have time
for peaceful personal reflection.
Our
Guitar Group is comprised of singers and instrumentalists. At this
time, the group is seeking guitarists, especially. Parishioners of
all ages are invited to join this stewardship of sharing time and talent
through music by calling Tony Basilio at (610) 444-0514, or Pauline
Romandino at (610) 444-3726.
