The
Church flower Ministry at St. Patrick Church is made up of seven regular
volunteers. The ministry contact, Marlene McDonough, says more
people are invited to join the ministry. Men and women in all age
groups may volunteer. The tasks performed by the workers are varied
and not all require knowledge in floral arranging.
The
ministry meet about once a month to check on the silk flower
arrangements. This includes taking apart and then rearranging the
flowers, preparing new arrangements as needed, and placing flowers on our
altars for special occasions such as First Communion, Confirmation and
holy days. There
also are some supportive duties involved with this work. During the
many years of service, these volunteers have worked in conjunction with
families in planning arrangements for weddings.
The
flowers in our Church are planned in accordance with liturgies and
standard Church rules. Flower arrangements tell a story in
themselves. For example, the bare arrangements appearing to be
"sticks in vases" were recently replaced in passing from a
starker time into a hopeful season. In two weeks, our altars will be
adorned with beautiful Easter flowers.
Certain
times of the year, such as Easter and Christmas, the Church Flower
ministry is in need of extra volunteers because of additional flowers that
need to be placed. Please contact Marlene McDonough at (610)
444-5846 if you would like additional information about this ministry, or
if you are able to help regularly or for special occasions.
