St.
Patrick Charismatic Prayer Group has been serving our parish continuously
since May 1972. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the
Church basement, except on the third Thursday of each month when prayer
groups from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, West Grove, and
Sacred Heart Church. Oxford, meet with our group on a rotating schedule.
In
describing the Charismatic Prayer Group, Tony Basilio, Sr., emphasized the
love and warmth God intends us to have is felt within this ministry
community. He feels participants in our prayer group more fully use
the gifts that God has given to all of us. These are gifts such as wisdom
and understanding as they join together to praise God, thanking Him and
glorifying His name. This is accomplished by reading Holy Scripture,
singing hymns, praying, speaking and listening to God, and witnessing to
God's presence in our everyday lives, all the while acknowledging that
everything is done through the Spirit of God. Members of this
ministry seek to gain insight into what God wants them to do as the Spirit
leads them.
There
are more than 20 members in this ministry. Everyone is welcome at
all regular and special meetings. The recent "Life in the
Spirit Seminar" is an example of the latter and such sessions are
held for all as the Charismatic Prayer Group responds to God's calling.
Our
Charismatic Prayer Group invites parishioners to come to a meeting so they
may see for themselves the impact this type of prayer can have on our
lives. For further information, please call Tony Basilio,
