The
Saint Patrick Cemetery Committee assumes responsibility for the sale of
plots and the upkeep of the St. Patrick cemetery grounds. While the
cemetery is located within our parish, the ministry also serves Catholic
families living in neighborhood parishes, making this ministry somewhat
unique among other ministries.
Often
families must contact this ministry at the time of bereavement to purchase
a plot, the contact being made through the funeral director or the parish
office. A committee member meets the family or family representative
at the cemetery to assist with the plot selection.
Committee
members would like people to know that cemetery plots may be purchased
prior to the time of need. Advance purchases can give plot owners
more time to review the deed.
Included
in the price of a plot is perpetual care, the services required to
maintain the cemetery grounds. Professional maintenance equipment
used for mowing and trimming must be able to navigate the grounds.
For this reason, there are specific requirements for any floral tributes,
plantings and headstones that may be used on graves.
It
should be known that if burial plans change, St. Patrick Church will buy
back the plot at the original purchase price, or it may be donated to the
Church.
Non-Catholic
family members may be buried in Catholic cemeteries with their Catholic
family.
