This
ministry has been serving our parish for about six years, enabling
parishioners and their friends to become more familiar with the books of
both the Old and New Testaments. St. Patrick Director of Religious
Education, Marianne Kane, conducts the classes of this ministry.
Each
book of the Bible usually takes six weeks of study. Classes have
been held weekly on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The specific
day of the class can be changed, if necessary, to accommodate the
participants. During each session, a video is shown, followed by a
question and answer session, and then a discussion. The ideal class
size is 10 or more individuals because this leads to challenging
discussions.
The
workbook used is the Collegeville Bible Study Course, compiled
specifically for use by the laity. There is an $8 charge for the
workbook.
While
no Bible Study Ministry group currently is meeting, past participants have
noted that this ministry has enhanced their lives and their understanding
of the Bible. This weekday morning study group offers an enrichment
opportunity to the "at home parent," whose family is in school,
as well as to people who dislike evening meetings.
Pat
notes that this is a great time to contact her for information, including
determining preference time for the next study classes to begin.
Because we are all
in need of strengthening our understanding of the Bible, becoming part
of a future Bible Study Ministry will be a rewarding way to share your
time and talent in this stewardship effort. Please call Marianne at (610) 444-2214 any weekday for additional information, or to
sign up for future meetings.
St.
Patrick Church also has its Tuesday Night Bible Group ministry that may be
of interest to parishioners.
