St. Maximilian Kolbe Fraternity ~ Youth and Young Adult Commission

Commissions Chairperson: Lisa Stauffer, 386-789-1124, staufferl@yahoo.com

The Youth and Young Adult Commission has chosen to do whatever we can to keep the PACE Center for Girls operation, focusing mainly on the Volusia/Flagler school in Daytona Beach. We have chosen this ministry, not only because it is important and is constantly short of desperately needed funds, although both of these statements are true, but because several fraternity members have had personal experience with the school and the good that it does the community. Many times it is difficult to excite the general public about helping girls who are troubled because they are not "warm and cuddly." The girl, as well as her family, begins to feel isolated from the rest of society. It is difficult to find help and, unfortunately, the school system is not always forthcoming about available programs.

What we plan to do is to continue with a school supplies collection, which we have done for the past five years, with the donations going from now on to the PACE Center for Girls. We will also contact Ms. Carol Wick, the director for PACE, to see if there is anything we can do that would be a hands-on ministry. Our members who are working and who have the opportunity to contribute to United Way may, if they choose, request that whatever United Way donation they make go directly to PACE.
