The Work Commission believes that any job we do, be it paid employment or washing the dishes at home, can be done for the glory of God. St. Francis asked that his friars do manual labor, so they helped whoever they could: farmers harvesting their field, shepherds tending their flocks, and whatever else needed to be done. After all, idle hands are the devil's playground and we Americans are blessed with much leisure time. Of course, we do believe in rest and relaxation, too! But the Work Commission strives to remind us that work, done in the company of friends, can also be fun.
