Act of Oblation to Merciful Love
|"I want to spend My Heaven
doing good on earth."
The purpose of this Web Page is to share a desire expressed by St. Therese of Lisieux. Shortly before she died (September 30, 1897), she prayed that God would choose a Legion of Souls who would offer themselves as Victims of Holocaust to Merciful Love.
First, a story: A spectator was talking to a man who was preparing to walk on a tightrope. When he found out that this person was going to push a wheelbarrow as he walked the high wire, the inquisitor marveled - expressing much confidence in the dare-devil's ability. The tight rope walker asked the man if he really trusted in this daring attempt. "Trust?" the man replied. "What do you mean?" The tightrope walker said, "When you have trust, you will be able to sit in the wheelbarrow!"
There are times in everyone's life when trusting is the last thing one feels capable of doing. The above story illustrates the degree of trust we at times are called upon to profess. The success really does depend upon our trusting on something or in someone outside of ourselves.
This Web Page focuses on someone who has gone before us and has blazed a trail of trust and confidence for our imitation. Her name is St. Therese of Lisieux - known in her monastery as Sister Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.
The information included here tries to introduce you to her thought with the hopes that you will, indeed, follow Therese. May she, in her turn, grace your life with an outpouring of her "celestial roses."
