Christ the King Association: A Statement of Purposes

Christ the King Association is an international private association of the Catholic Faithful according to Canon 298. It comprises some 45 communities, fellowships, and related outreaches worldwide.

The communities, fellowships, and outreaches who have formed Christ the King Association, did so out of a desire to dedicate themselves together to the task of the New Evangelization called for by Pope John Paul II. By associating together, the various member groups of Christ the King Association worldwide hope to use their resources more effectively both in their local regions and Pentecostinternationally for the proclamation of the Gospel, the building of support environments for living out the call to be witnesses of Christ in the Church and in the world, working for Christian unity, and in other ways to support the mission of the Church in the world as that is taught in Lumen Gentium, Gaudium et Spes, Evangelii Nuntiandi, Christifideles Laici and other documents of the Church.

Pentecost, codice di Rabbula, 6th century

The Association desires to dedicate its gifts and resources to the Holy Father and to the universal Church and, under the direction of that Church serve locally and internationally according to its call and mission as that is expressed in its Statutes and in its Statement of Community Order for the glory of God and for the upbuilding of God's people.

The purposes of the Association at the international level are the following: In all of the above, the Association seeks to work in harmony with international and local authorities of the Church.

The spirit in which the Association pursues its goals is well expressed in the following texts from holy Scripture:

The Gospel of Matthew 22:36-40. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."

The Gospel of John 17:20-21. "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

The Gospel of Mark 16:15. And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation."
