PRAYER TO SAINT COLUMBA
Lord Jesus Christ,
you travelled far to preach
and teach the Good News
and called others to do the same.
St.Columba, was obedient
to your command,
to go and preach to all nations.
He provided in his very self,
the Church's centre among the Picts.
He instructed and inspired,
worshipped and governed
all in your name and to your glory.
May he pray for us,
that we may be your witnesses
with our very lives.
Through Christ our Lord Amen.

MAGNIFICAT (Luke 1:46-55)
My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.
For he has regarded the lowliness
of his handmaid,
For behold, henceforth all generations
shall call me blessed.
Because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him.
He has shown might with his arm:
He has scattered the proud in the conceit
of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped Israel, his servant,
mindful of his mercy;
As he promised to our fathers, to
Abraham and his seed forever.

MEMORARE
Remember, O most blessed Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection
implored your aid
or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother.
To you I come, before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petition,
but in your mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

BENEDICTUS ( Luke 1: 68)
Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel : He has visited his people and redeemed them;
He has raised up for us a mighty saviour : in the house of David, his servant;
As he promised by the lips of holy men, those who were his Prophets from of old;
That he might save us from the hands of our foes, and from all who hate us.
He promised mercy to our fathers in faith, remembering his holy Covenant;
He swore to Abraham, our father, that free from fear and safe from the hands of our foes, we might serve him with holiness and justice  all the days of our life in his presence.
As for you little Child, you shall be called a Prophet of God the most high
You shall shall go ahead of the Lord to prepare his ways before Him;
To make known his salvation to his people : for the forgiveness of all our sins,
The loving kindness of the heart of our God who visits us like the dawn from on high;
To give light to those who dwell in darkness, those who walk in the shadow of death : and guide us into the way of peace.

PRAYER BEFORE A CRUCIFIX
Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Your sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech You that You would impress upon my heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, true repentance for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment, while with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Your five most precious wounds,
having before my eyes that which David spoke in prophecy of You, O good Jesus: they have pierced my hands and feet, they have numbered all my bones.

 PRAYER FOR THE PRESENTATION OF OUR LORD
Almighty and everliving God, we humbly pray that, as your Only-begotten Son was this day presented in the temple, so we may be presented to you with pure and clean hearts by Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

PRAYER OF ST. IGNATIUS
Lord teach us to be generous
To serve you as you deserve
To give and not to count the cost
To fight and not to heed the wound
To toil and not to seek for rest
To labour and to ask for no reward
Save only that of knowing that we do your holy will.
