CONFESSIONS
Saturday:
Collection: Last week’s plate collection came to £563.28. Thank you. Bishop's Maintenance Fund: Raised £408.12. Many thanks. Second Collection: There will be a second collection next weekend for the Sick & Retired Clergy Fund. November Holy Souls: All the Masses through November will be offered for the Holy Souls, apart from a few Masses where people have particular anniversaries to commemorate. November envelopes are available at the entrance of the church. Please place a list of names of those you wish to be prayed for plus a donation in the envelope and place it in the basket, which will be placed on the altar from next weekend. Christmas Bazaar: Many thanks to all of you who have already brought items for the bazaar. For the next couple of weeks we are asking for CDs, DVDs and books (in good condition). The usual box is located under the papers. The Bazaar itself will be held on 5th December. Christmas Bazaar Grand Draw: The tickets for the Grand Draw are now available as you leave church today. 1st prize is a mini hi-fi, 2nd prize a meal for two at Mama Rosa's, 3rd prize six bottles of wine, and 4th prize a £20 M&S voucher. Please post the stubs and money through Fr John's front door. Assisted Suicide: The Conference of Bishops has voiced its concerns about assisted suicide and the potential dangers of the DPP guidelines issued recently. Go to www.catholicchurch.org.uk for advice, then www.cps.gov.uk/consultations/as_policy.html. But, most importantly, please pray for those who are near suicide. The Livesimply Challenge 2009: Our second challenge is to eat simply in a spirit of gratitude. Fast one day of the week. It's estimated that if every family eat one meat meal less a week we would meet our current climate change targets. Contact: Candlelight News: Our latest edition of Contact includes an article explaining our Candlelight Fund, which has been set up in memory of Fr Steve Reith. CAFOD has sent us a few copies of their Candlelight News, which you may like to read. They have invited us to include and article on Fr Steve for the next issue. Stop Climate Chaos: On 5th December, ahead of the UN's climate summit in Copenhagen, there will be a demonstration in London in support of action on climate change: "The Wave". The day will start with an ecumenical service at Westminster Central Hall at 11:00am, led by the Archbishop of Westminster, of you can join the march directly at Grosvenor Square at 12:00pm. It will be a peaceful event for all ages. If you would like more information, contact Nicky Wiseman on LB 851038, or see www.cafod.org.uk. Into The Silence: The Picture House Charity Cinema presents this documentary on monastic life, to be shown at Tads Theatre, Conger Lane, Toddington, on 20th November at 7:00pm. No entrance fee, but a collection for a charity will be taken. Evergreens: Evergreens meet on 9th November at 2:00pm in the hall, when our guests will be the U3A Handbell Ringers. Raffle and refreshments also. Please bring money for the Christmas lunch. Magazines: The latest edition of Justice is now available at the entrance, price £3.00. Hello, Dolly!: Leighton Masqueraders present "Hello Dolly" at the Library Theatre, 25th-28th November at 7:30pm. Tickets from the Box Office, or phone 01582 818801. For details, see the poster on the notice board. Congratulations!: To Gemma Silvestri and Chris Broome, who were married at Sacred Heart this weekend.
