CONFESSIONS
Saturday:
Collection: Last week’s plate collection came to £611.91. Thank you.
Mass Media: The second collection this weekend is for the Catholic Communications Network (CNN), which is the media office for the Bishop's Conference for this country. Traidcraft Stall: The Traidcraft Stall is open for business after every Mass this weekend. The Vine: The May edition is available at the back. My Day By Day: Copies of this monthly booklet are available at the back, covering the Mass readings through May, price £1.00 each. First Communion Parents Evening: There will be a meeting for the parents of our First Communion candidates on 5th May, at 8:00pm, in the parish hall. At least one parent for each child needs to come. We will be discussing practicalities and the Mass. Youth Mass Readers: Richard Patterson is taking over from Monica MacDonald as the organiser of the readers for the Youth Mass, on the second Sunday of the month. If you would like to read at this Mass, please see Richard or Fr John, or phone him on LB 759268. Christian Aid: Christian Aid week this year is from 11th to 17th May. As usual we have been allotted a number of roads where envelopes need to be delivered and collected. The list is on a board at the back of the church. Please choose a road. Last years magnificent take-up is on a page underneath: if you take a peek you find out how you did 12 months ago. CAFOD Evening: Maddy West will be speaking about CAFOD's Health Care programme in Nigeria, where life expectancy is just 45 years. Hear and see her report on 19th May at Our Lady of Lourdes, Coffee Hall, Milton Keynes, starting at 7:30pm. There will also be time to find out more about CAFOD's work and to raise questions. If you would like a lift please contact Nicky Wiseman on LB 851038. Everyone welcome. Climate Change - Truth Or Swindle?: Rev Dr David Gregory claims to have the answers and he is giving a lecture in the Lecture Theatre, St Paul's Catholic School, Milton Keynes, on 15th May at 7:30pm. Admission is free. French exchange Student: Is there a family in the parish who would be interested in having a 16 year old French student to stay this summer? He would like to join an English Catholic family this summer for a fortnight to help him improve his English and learn something of our way of life. This would suit a family with a similar aged boy who is studying French, so that an exchange could be arranged. If you are interested, or want further details, please contact Edmund Flach on LB 378262, email edmund.flach@btopenworld.com. Jubilee Debt Campaign: In 1998 70,000 people stood in a human chain around the G8 meeting in Birmingham, irging the G8 to drop to Debt. To mark the 10th anniversary the Jubilee Debt Campaign is organising an event, which will take place on 18th May. There will be a CAFOD Mass at St Chad's Cathedral followed by a large event at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham. Next weekend the Justice & Peace Team will be asking you to sign Drop the Debt chains. These will be taken to Birmingham and used in the mass action to demand further action on debt ahead of the G8 in Japan and other crucial international meetings in 2008. Leighton Buzzard Festival Singers: Their latest concert features the music of John Rutter, including his Requiem and Gloria. On 10th May, at All Saints Church, starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are available from Butterworths Stationers and Selections Hardware. Luton Good Counsel AGM: The local pro-life organisation are holding their AGM on 16th May at Our Lady Help of Christmas, Castle Street, Luton, starting with Mass at 7:00pm, followed by the AGM. The Guest Speaker this year will be Charles Whitehead, Chairman of the Catholic Evangelisation Services. All are welcome. Adoption...Could You Do It?: Come and find out more at an information evening at the St Frances' Children's Society offices: 48 Newport Road, Woolstone, Milton Keynes, tel: 01908 572700, on 20th May, between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. May Fayre: If you are going to the May Fayre this Monday, come and support the Leighton Linslade Fairtrade stall and see the wide range of Fairtrade products now available. There will also be samples of Fairtrade goods. The stall will be situated near Selections and you should recognise it by the giant banana! Also look out for the Christian Ecology Group stall next door.
