Collection:   Last week’s plate collection came to £634.00.            Thank you.

Mass Media:   The second collection next weekend is for the Catholic Communications Network (CNN), which is the media office for the Bishop's Conference for this country.

Parish Library:   The Parish Library is open and ready for business at the back of the church this weekend.

First Communion Parents Evening:   There will be a meeting for the parents of our First Communion candidates on 5th May, at 8:00pm, in the parish hall.  At least one parent for each child needs to come.  We will be discussing practicalities and the Mass.

Youth Mass Readers:   Richard Patterson is taking over from Monica MacDonald as the organiser of the readers for the Youth Mass, on the second Sunday of the month.  If you would like to read at this Mass, please see Richard or Fr John, or phone him on LB 759268.

Christian Aid:   Christian Aid week this year is from 11th to 17th May.  As usual we have been allotted a number of roads where envelopes need to be delivered and collected.  The list is on a board at the back of the church.  Please choose a road.  Last years magnificent take-up is on a page underneath: if you take a peek you find out how you did 12 months ago.

APF Boxes:   If you are one of those people who use the APF red boxes, could you please bring yours in for counting, sometime over the next few weeks.  Many thanks.

Parish Barbeque Meeting:   There will be a meeting for those involved with the organising of the Parish Barbeque in the Presbytery on 30th April, at 8:00pm.  The Barbeque takes place on 28th June.  Tickets will be available soon.

Congratulations:   We have two weddings this week: Sunday it's Carmelina Loraso and Paulo Benfeito, whilst on Saturday it will be the turn of Carmelina Silvestri and Darren Organ.  Congratulations to both couples.

Pilgrimage To Walsingham:   The annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham takes place this year on 14th June.  Back by popular demand we have booked a coach to leave Sacred Heart at 8:00am.  The journey takes about 3 hours with a comfort stop.  On arrival there is time for a stroll and a bite to eat (you can bring a picnic or there are plenty of eating places).  After lunch we gather at the Anglican church for a short service conducted by the Bishop before the procession, about a mile, through the picturesque countryside to the National Shrine.  Mass is celebrated at 4:00pm.  The cost of the trip is £15.  If you would like to come please enclose your name(s), phone number & money (cheques made payable to Sacred Heart Church) in an envelope marked "Walsingham" & pop through Fr John's door of place in the collection basket as it goes round.  For more information please phone Anne Burke LB 370649 or Gillian O'Hara LB 379022.

Vocations Weekend:   For any men, aged 18 or over, who are thinking about the possibility of being called to the priesthood for the Diocese of Northampton, there will be a weekend of exploration held at St John's, Soudon Park, Luton, 16th-18th May.  The aim of the weekend is to help those who are wondering to put their thoughts together a bit more firmly.  if you are interested, call Fr Mark or Fr Jonathan (on the number printed on the poster in the porch) or speak to Fr John.

Jubilee Debt Campaign:   In 1998 70,000 people stood in a human chain around the G8 meeting in Birmingham, irging the G8 to drop to Debt.  To mark the 10th anniversary the Jubilee Debt Campaign is organising an event, which will take place on 18th May.  There will be a CAFOD Mass at St Chad's Cathedral followed by a large event at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham.  Next weekend the Justice & Peace Team will be asking you to sign Drop the Debt chains.  These will be taken to Birmingham and used in the mass action to demand further action on debt ahead of the G8 in Japan and other crucial international meetings in 2008.

ANNIVERSARIES:    Please pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time.

X Eternal rest give unto them O Lord. May they rest in peace.
