CONFESSIONS
Saturday:
Collection: Last week’s plate collection came to £524.20 Thank you. Early Morning Mass: Once again there will be a weekly early morning Mass through Lent this year, aimed especially at commuters. This time it will be on Tuesday mornings, but at the later time of 6:30am (but do not expect to find the church open before 6:25am!) Once again there will be breakfast available in Fr John's kitchen following the Mass. Friday Fast Day: This Friday is the CAFOD Fast Day, which will be followed by a collection next weekend. There are plenty of envelopes available as you leave the church. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first Fast Day in 1960. Ever since then Catholics from across England and Wales have teamed up with CAFOD to help some of the poorest communities in the world. There will be a short talk at Mass today describing some of this work. In addition, CAFOD is running the Give It Up! campaign through Lent, which encourages us to give up something and donate the money saved to CAFOD at Easter. Small boxes are available at the entrance for this purpose. Expedition Appeal: Greg O'Hara will be travelling to Venezuela with World Challenge in July 2010. It will be a five week expedition involving community, social and building work along with personal development. As it is Greg's own responsibility to raise funds for the cost of the trip, he would like to offer his services for a variety of household and garden maintenance chores and errands in return for a donation. Please contact Greg or his parents Eugene and Gillian on 01525 379022. St Alban's Cathedral Choir: The Choir of St Alban's will be in concert at All Saints Church on 6th March at 7:00pm. Tickets are £10, £6 concessions, available from All Saints' Office or at the door. Profits will go to the All Saints Preservation Trust. St Barnabas Car Park: Car parking spaces for commuters have become available next to St Barnabas Church in Linslade, only a few minutes walk from the station. The cost of a parking space is less than at the station, and you would have your own allocated parking space. For further information please contact Dave Darvill on LB 371836. Fairtrade Fortnight: This week sees the start of Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from 22nd February to 7th March. This year the nation is being asked to swap their usual purchases for Fairtrade goods; your usual sugar for Fairtrade sugar, socks for Fairtrade socks, and most of all tea for Fairtrade tea. With more Fairtrade products available all the time there are plenty to try. Each swap proves that the people of the UK want producers in the developing world to get a fairer deal. There are a number of events planned in and around the town during Fairtrade Fortnight, including the Big Swap Jazz evening at the Grove Lock pub. See the flyer at the entrance for more details of this and other events. Sacred Heart Messenger: Copies of the latest Sacred Heart Messenger Magazine are available att he entrance, price £1.
ANNIVERSARIES:
Please pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time.
X Eternal rest give unto them O Lord. May they rest in peace.
