Christmas Bazaar: Many thanks to all of you who have already brought items for the bazaar. For the next couple of weeks we are asking for bottles for the lucrative Bottle Tombola. Please remember to bring sometihng for this stall as it always makes loads of money! The usual box is located under the papers. The Bazaar itself will be held on 5th December. There is a meeting for those who would like to be involved in the Bazaar on 28th October, at 7:30pm in the Presbytery. The Livesimply Challenge 2009: Our second challenge is to eat simply in a spirit of gratitude. Eating simply, reclaiming the Friday Fast as a Catholic practice for our times and by eating simple vegetarian meals on Fridays, it enables us to live simply and in solidarity with the poor. We are constantly encouraged to consume more and more. if we fast we remind ourselves that we can choose not to be controlled by our desires or our greed; we can remind ourselves that in a world of limited resources, we do not have to try and consume as much as we possibly can; we can put ourselves in solidarity with those who have no choice but to feel hungry every day. Fasting helps to concentrate the mind so that we can give our attention to things other than our desires. Done as a religious observance, fasting brings us closer to God. Are you aware how far your meal has come to your table? "Food miles" increases the impact on the planet and local eco systems. Try to buy local seasonal food. Eco-Arts Project: Wanted: young activist - Are you a young person concerned about the environment? Have your say! Join the fun! Music/drama presentation on 31st October at the Methodist Church.
