28th Sunday Of The Year
CONFESSIONS
Saturday:
Collection: Last week’s plate collection came to £680.21. Thank you. Missions Sunday: There will be a second collection next weekend in support of the Church's missionary work. Harvest Bring And Buy: Hopefully you will have remembered to bring home produce and cakes for the Harvest Bring and Buy Stall. Even if you haven't, do pay it a visit after Mass today. Please make a reasonable donation to CAFOD Connect 2 Bangladesh for the items you purchase. Bible Study Group: The Bible Study Group meets on 17th October, at 3:30pm in the Presbytery. Open to everyone. Quiz Night: This will be the next event organised by our Fund Raising Team, to be held on 20th October at The Scout Hall, Grovebury Road, from 7:30pm. Tickets, at £5 per head, will be on sale from this weekend. Make a team of six or just come and join one on the evening. Table nibbles provided, BYO tipples and more substantial treats if you wish. The quiz has become very popular on the local circuit so early booking recommended. First Communion Parents Evening: The parents of the children making their First Holy Communion next June (the children attending the Saturday morning classes) are asked to come to the Parents Evening on 18th October at 7:30pm in the church. Please let Fr John know if you are unable to come. New Altar Servers: If you are interested in becoming an altar server, please speak to either Tony Falcon or Fr John. Lessons will be starting shortly. Bishop Peter: The Year Of Faith: You are invited to hear Bishop Peter Doyle as he addresses the people and clergy of our Pastoral Area at the start of the Year of Faith. He will be speaking at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pope Close, Flitwick, MK45 1JP, on 16th October at 7:45pm. Refreshments after the address. Fund Raising Committee: 100 Club: The Fund Raising Committee are launching a Lottery. In return for a commitment of just £5 per month you can win CASH PRIZES. You will be entered into a monthly draw and also a BIG PRIZE 6 monthly draw. The scheme will raise regular income for our building improvement projects and give participants significant chances of winning. The more members, the bigger the prizes. It's called our 100 Club as our aim is initially to have one hundred members. This initiative is open to all, so please tell friends and extended family. We have taken the time and effort to be compliant with all regulatory bodies. Notices will be issued next weekend with full details of the club and how to join. This is an ideal way to give and (maybe) receive. 40 Days Vigil: The "40 Days for Life" Campaign is now well under way outside the Acorn House Abortion centre on Midsummer Bvd Central MK. It runs until 4th November. We need as many people as possible to come and spend a short time (15 mins, 30 mins or more if you can) praying in peaceful vigil outside the centre. If you cannot make it to Milton Keynes, please can you remember in your prayers those who keep vigil. Midwives Petition: The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children are organising a petition in support of two midwives who, as labour ward co-ordinators, have refused to supervise abortions conducted by other midwives. The Nursing and Midwifery Council did not support their decision, however, and their case is now going to a higher court. SPUC are asking us to show out support but signing the petitions which are available at the entrance of the church. Aid To The Church In Need: Aid to the Church in Need are holding their annual Westminster Mass and Event on 20th October, at 10:30am. This year it will highlight the plight of Christians in the Middle East, as well as featuring a panel discussion about the key issue of religious freedom. Tickets are £5.00 each. Please see the poster on the notice board, and also the catalogue.
ANNIVERSARIES:
Please pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time.
X Eternal rest give unto them O Lord. May they rest in peace.
