Collection:   Last week’s plate collection came to £533.98            Thank you. 

CAFOD Collection:   Raised £1110.62.  Many thanks

Mayor's Service:   Thanks to everyone who helped at the Civic Service last Sunday, including those who organised and served the refreshments, our usher, anf Theresa at the organ.  The Town Mayor Karen Cursons also sends her thanks.

Magazines:   Copies of various magazines have just arrived: Catholic Life £3.50, Justice £3.50, and St Martin's Magazine 40p.

Bereavement Group:   The Bereavement Group will be meeting this Wednesday at 7:00pm in the Presbytery.

OXJAM Festival:   The 2010 Leighton Buzzard OXJAM Festival runs from 6th to 27th March.  The programme this year lists 20 musical events in aid of Oxfam, from rock, through jazz and folk to classical and choral.  The first week includes an open rehearsal of the Heath Band on 10th March, 8:00pm to 10:00pm, at Heath Barn, and on 12th there will be an organ recital at All Saints Church at 1:00pm, and a Jazz concert at Vandyke School at 7:30pm,  On 13th you can listen to music at the Market Cross between 10:30am and 3:30pm, and then a line up of bands at the Theatre at 7:30pm.  Full details at www.iloveleightonbuzzard.com, or edmund.flach@btopenworld.com telephone 378262.

Wildlife Warriors:   Another of those occasional lectures hosted by St Paul's Catholic School in Milton Keynes: speaker Linley Brown, zookeeper & conservation worker, will talk about recent extinctions and what is being done for animal conservation.  A selection of animals will also be attending the lecture to raise awareness for their wild counterparts and habitat protection (and possibly terrorise the audience!) 18th March at 7:30pm, Room A109.  enquiries: 01908 669735.  Admission free.

Bruckner Mass:   The Danesborough Chorus, with the MKCO Wind Ensemble, will be performing Bruckner's Mass in E Minor, as well as pieces by Mozart and Rheinberger, at Woburn Parish Church on 27th March at 7:30pm.  Tickets £15, £12 and £8 with concessions from the Choir Box Office 01908 583460.

Spotlight On Tea:  Together the UK's top five tea brands account for 72% of the UK market.  With over 20 million people in the developing world reliant on the tea industry, it is a vital focus in the fight against poverty.  Traidcraft and the WI are promoting a campaign to urge the UK's largest tea brands to switch to Fairtrade.  Please support the campaign by picking up a campaign postcard from the Traidcraft Stall after Mass or email the five brands and ask them to switch to Fairtrade.  www.makeitfair.org.uk

Over 60s Drop-In:   Leighton Central Safer Neighbourhood Team are holding a Drop-In for the over 60s at the Royal British Legion, west Street on 16th March, from 10:30am to 3:30pm.  Various organisations will be on hand to offer advise.  Pick up a flyer at the entrance of the church.

Oscar Romero:   Marking the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero, there will be two Masses celebrated in London on 24th March: at Southwark Cathedral at 12:30pm, and at Westminster Cathedral at 5:30pm, led by Archbishop Vincent Nichols.  Everyone welcome.

St Barnabas Car Park:   Car parking spaces for commuters have become available next to St Barnabas Church in Linslade, only a few minutes walk from the station.  The cost of a parking space is less than at the station, and you would have your own allocated parking space.  For further information please contact Dave Darvill on LB 371836.
