The Call Of The Good Shepherd
The Twenty-third Psalm, today's responsorial psalm, is arguably the best known of all the psalms. The line that reads "Even though I walk in the dark valley / I fear no evil; for you are at my side / with your rod and your staff / that give me courage" (Psalm 23:4) connects this week's scriptures to the wonderful story of the road to Emmaus, which we heard last week. The Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is constantly at our side. He calls us each by name, beckoning us into a deeper relationship with him. That call, issued to each of us at the moment of our baptism, carries with it the promise of the Good Shepherd: "I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

A letter from Fordham Prep School:
Dear Fr. Guarnieri:
On behalf of the students of Fordham Prep School, I would like to thank you and the members of the Parish for your overwhelming support for our Rosary Drive. With the help of St. Clare's, we collected 547 unbroken rosaries, 17 addition broken rosaries (13 of which were repaired), 38 religious medals and pendants, 18 rosary rings, 16 chaplets, 9 religious statuettes, one small holy water font, and one very interesting rosary credit card.
Of the 560 rosaries that were cleaned or repaired, 555 will be sent along this summer with our missions to Ecuador and Mexico. Three of the 560 were distributed to members of the Fordham Prep community, an American-themed set of beads was sent to an alumnus currently stationed in Iraq, and finally, one rosary (a set entirely made of knotted twine) will be kept here at the Prep, and will be used for Rosary Services in May. The four un-repaired rosaries will be kept as spare parts for future Rosary Drives. All the remaining items will be sent along with the rosaries and either given to individuals or donated to local churches with the exception of the chaplets. Fifteen of these we are planning to bring to the Jesuit infirmary here on campus; one, a chaplet of St. Theresa, was given to the moderator of our Italian Cultural Society, a devotee of the Little Flower.
Thanks again for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Know that many, many Ave Maria's will be prayed this summer on behalf of the Morris Park Community.
Sincerely,
Mr. Louis DiGiorno
