Sacred Heart Parish serves the Catholic
Christian community of Commander
Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, Japan.This includes active duty and family
members of all the military services, DOD civilians and Japanese civilians.
Fleet Activities Yokosuka is home to 11 ships of the U.S.
Seventh Fleet. Sacred Heart Catholic Community offers the full
spectrum of religious services, including daily Mass, 4 weekend Masses,
C.C.D, R.C.I.A, and adult religious education classes. In addition, there
are numerous novenas and other religious activities for those who wish
to strengthen their faith through consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We at Sacred Heart Parish hope that you

Meet our Priests
Fr.
Francis E. Walsh
Father Walsh was born May 14th, 1937 in Pottsfield,
MA. He grew up in Lenox, MA, attending the local public schools as
well as a Jesuit High School. He received his B.A. in 1961, as well
as his M.A. in Philosophy in 1962, from Boston College. He studied for
the Priesthood at Our Lady of the Angels Seminary in Albany, N.Y. He was
ordained for the Diocese of Springfield, MA, on May 21st, 1966. Fr.
Walsh served as curate at St. Mary's Church in Westfield, MA, St. Mary's
in Springfield, MA, as well as St. Mary's in Chicopee, MA. He was appointed
administrator in 1978 and then Pastor in 1980, of St. Charles Church in
Pottsfield, MA. In 1989, Fr. Walsh volunteered for service as a Navy Chaplain.
His duty stations have included, Twenty Nine Palms, CA, Naval Hospital
Oakland, CA, and Sasebo, Japan. Fr. Walsh has been here with us at Sacred
Heart since 1995.
