Lectors assist the congregation in a prayerful and meaningful celebration of the Liturgy of the Word by carefully preparing the Sunday readings and sharing their faith in the Word of God. Training is provided to those who qualify as good readers so they may proclaim the Word of the Lord. It is open to members of the Parish who make the Scriptures a meaningful part of their lives.
Special ministers are selected by the pastor to assist the clergy in ministering the Eucharist to the faithful both at the Liturgy and through visits to the sick and homebound. Training sessions are provided and the ministers are mandated by the Bishop for service to this parish. A public commissioning rite is held in the parish for new ministers.
Servers are used at all liturgical functions. Meetings are held monthly and are announced in the bulletin. Boys or girls must be at least ten years old to be servers. Altar ministers must be eighteen years of age. Availability to serve scheduled Masses and responsible punctuality are required.
The ushers greet the parishioners at the doors and assist the congregation in seating, collecting the offerings, coordinating the presentation of gifts, assisting at Communion time, and distributing the bulletins. Ushers are coordinated by the Holy Name Society.
