BAPTISM:
Families requesting the baptism of their new-born
should call the rectory (352-1311) to set up a date and time. For
families who are new to the parish, or new as parents, an instruction about
Baptism prior to the ceremony is required. Baptisms are usually celebrated
on the second Sunday of the month.
Children, who are not baptized but are old enough
to understand, are to receive sufficient instruction about the ceremony
prior to being baptized. Arrangements for this instruction may be made
with the parish priest or religious education coordinator (357-3781).
Adults seeking membership in the Catholic Church
will be enrolled in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Having
completed this preparatory process, adults would be initiated into the
Church with the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.
This would usually take place at the vigil ceremony of Easter.
-
HOLY EUCHARIST: The first reception of Holy Eucharist would
take place at the end of the second year of religious instruction, usually
the second grade. Older children who have been delayed in the religious
formation are to receive sufficient instruction to enable them to understand
the meaning of the sacrament.
-
RECONCILIATION: This sacrament, formerly known as Confession
or Penance, requires some measure of moral development and understanding.
The first experience of this sacrament would usually occur during the fifth
year of religious education for children.
Adults are welcome to make an appointment with the
parish priest,or avail themselves of the regular hours at church on the
weekend.
-
CONFIRMATION: This sacrament is conferred on students of
the 10th grade level. They must have completed the prior year of preparation
in addition to a working knowledge of the fundamentals of our faith. Students
should register with the Religious Education Coordinator as soon as possible.
Adults wishing to receive Confirmation should contact
the parish priest to make arrangements and receive the necessary instruction.

MARRIAGE: By creating an opportunity for dialogue and assessment
of an engaged couple's readiness to enter the sacrament, the Church seeks
to provide support and encouragement to "marry well." Three phases of the
Diocesan Marriage Guidelines are designed to pastorally guide you, enabling
you to evaluate your own relationship and deepen it before a permanent
commitment is made. Couples should be in touch with the parish priest at
least six months before the intended date of the wedding. Please call the
rectory at 352-1311.
