TAIPING PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The Taiping Parish Pastoral Council is the main adminstrative body of the Church. The Council is presided by the Parish Priest.


The objective of the Council are as follows:

  • Overall holistic pastoral care of the Parish
  • Discern, plan and evaluate the yearly pastoral plan

The Taiping Parish Pastoral council is composed of :

Parish Priest,

four representatives from the Zone Leaders Team and

two representatives from The Parish Service Team

and one representative each from the

Tamil Apostolate , Chinese Apostolate , Youth team,

Parish Animating Team, Finance Committee, Secretariat and Religious.


Each of the teams mentioned above has its own functional structures.


Parish Council members serve on the Pastoral Council for a two year term. 



PARISH BASIC ECCLESIAL COMMUNITIES (BEC’s)


The Penang Diocesan Option is for the Parishes to be structured to be a communion of Basic Ecclesial Communities(BEC). The Taiping Parish is thus territorially divided  Zones for the formation of the Basic Eccelsial communities. Each Zone has a zone committee which has a term of office for two years. The leaders of the Zones come together to form the Zone leaders team.

Every Zone(BEC), has a committee of its own comprising of the Zone leader, Assistant Zone Leader, Secretary and Treasurer
