irst
of all, I would like to thank the editorial team Sinaran for giving me
an opportunity to share some thoughts about my stay here in the College
General.
Time flew very fast. Five
months (one semester) of my stay in the College have come to an end. Now
it is time for me to say good-bye to each one of you who have accompanied
me, walking together with Jesus. I like the theme and the focus chosen
for the year, "Walking with Jesus - experiencing Jesus in the Word,
Sacrament and Persons." This reminds me that Jesus is in our midst
all the time.
I really enjoyed my stay
in the College. Indeed, I was reluctant to leave College General, not because
of the beautiful scenery nor its "five star resort" look but because of
all of you who have been so nice to me. You have been my true friends,
companions and brothers. I was a stranger and you welcomed me and made
me feel at home. I was handicapped in my English and you empowered me.
I was doubtful and you gave me confidence. I really miss all of you, especially
the time when we prayed, studied, worked, played and shared together. I
missed the "Deca Sports" (comprising 10 games for the internal competitions),
my pastoral work, badminton and volleyball games too.
Most of all, I missed the
time spent preparing the Friday homily. Every Thursday night, I had to
struggle to bring to mind what to share with all of you. Although it was
a painful moment for me, but it helped me to realize that if there is no
pain, then there is no gain! Yes! This is true indeed. We can't make
an omelet without breaking the egg. What we are really living for is the
experience of life, both the pain and the pleasure. I noticed that the
opportunities of finding deeper power within ourselves comes when life
seems most challenging. So, Father Stephen Liew, thank you so much for
giving me a chance to discover the pain and the pleasure. To my beloved
Fathers and fellow brothers, as you have given me the full support during
my stay in the College, I sincerely hope that you will continue to support
me in my priestly life and ministry.
Finally, I would like to
conclude this article with words from the Acts of the Apostles, "It is
necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God"
(14:22). So let us persevere to the end and continue to pray for one another.
God Bless |
