Life After High School
Sundays @ 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center
Christ the King is hosting a series of workshops for this year's high school graduates about living life after high school. The transition from high school to adulthood can be one of the most challenging (and exciting) times of life, and going through it unprepared and alone can be both frustrating and unproductive. Whether you are moving away, staying at home, going to school or working - increased freedom, changes in social circles, and new responsibilities are all in store. These workshops will help you be prepared to face them - and grow in your relationship with Jesus. The workshops are on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center through August 15.
The topics we'll be covering include staying strong in the faith, the importance of community, dealing with change, living the freedom of adulthood excellently, managing finances, sharing the faith with those you meet, coping with coworkers, classmates and/or professors that are hostile to the faith, and others that will help you in this transition from your younger years into adulthood.
If you have questions, call Brad at 734-929-0977 or email him at bschmidt@ctkcc.net.
Guys' Bible Study - Incoming Juniors and Seniors
Sundays @ 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center
All incoming Junior and Senior guys (classes of 2011 and 2012) are invited to join us to dive deeper into our faith and study God's Word!! Get ready for some prayer, some reflection, some discussion, and lots and lots of fun!
We're meeting every Sunday, starting this week, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. We'll be in Room 3 of the Parish Center.
If you have questions, email Mark at mark.morath@gmail.com.
Evangelization Training - Incoming Juniors, Seniors and College Freshmen
Saturday, July 31, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Have you ever wanted to share the faith with people, but you're not quite sure how to go about doing it? Approaching strangers - or even family and friends - can be intimidating, but we're all called to share the Gospel.
Paco Gavrilides will be leading us in this workshop to help us grow in our ability - and confidence - in spreading the Good News.
There's no cost to attend, but please RSVP by July 27 if you can come (and only if you can come) so we have enough materials and food for the day.
If you have questions, call Brad at 734-929-0977 or email him at bschmidt@ctkcc.net.

Life Teen is an international Catholic ministry that serves the Church and leads all teens closer to Christ by providing resources and training that encourage vibrant Eucharistic celebrations and opportunities for teens to grow in their faith.
Be Involved!
The Catechism says that the Eucharist is the source and summit of our lives as Catholics. As the Eucharist is the source and summit of our lives, the Mass is at the center – and is the most important element of Life Teen. The Life Teen Mass is specifically intended for teens. The music, homily and worship are all directed toward YOU. Teens do all of the various services involved with the Mass: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Sacristans, Adult Servers, Ushers, Greeters, Music Ministry, and participants. Training sessions will be available in the fall and winter, and we highly encourage all of the teens at Christ the King to be trained in one or more ministries. This is a prime way to be involved, deepen your faith, and serve your friends, peers…and most importantly, Jesus Christ. If you have questions about serving at Mass, email Brad Schmidt at bschmidt@ctkcc.net.
If you have questions, or for more information on Life Teen at Christ the King, send an email to Brad Schmidt at bschmidt@ctkcc.net.
At Life Nights, we go deeper into our faith, and discuss how the teachings of Jesus apply to our life. Let’s face it. Many of us know Jesus, His life, His Church and His teachings. The focus of Life Nights is to integrate our faith with our experiences. For the most part, we know the basics of our faith. But when faced with the many new adult experiences in the life of a teen, we all need to re-examine these experiences in the light of faith.
Every Life Night is different. There is always food, laughter and great people! Typically, the night includes a skit or game, a talk, small group discussion, and prayer.
Occasionally, we have Empowerment Nights – centered around adoration, prayer ministry, and praise and worship.
We may know a lot about the faith (or maybe not so much), but no one of us knows everything. Plus, the goal isn’t just to know things, but it’s for us to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, live a life of holiness, and be with God in heaven forever. Knowledge is only part of what we need, our heart is what He asks for. How do we look to Jesus in all parts of our lives? This is a question we continue to ask each day, and together we turn to Christ to show us how to improve upon.

Pine Hills Camps - 2010
The Pine Hills Boys' Camp is June 13-19, and the Pine Hills Girls' Camp is August 8-14.

Several years ago, Fr. Ed, the Life Teen Core Team and several parents put together the following resources to help parents and teens discern how appropriate it would be for a teen to date. We are presenting here something of a ‘dating checklist,’ a practical guide to help teens and their parents reflect on how to respond to the basic pragmatic question: is it appropriate for their teens to date at this time, as well as other reflections on teen dating? The checklist embodies questions based on some of Fr. Ed's and the LIFE TEEN Core Team’s perspectives on what important issues should be considered in discerning this whole area.
As always, the decision to date or not, should be based on prayer and reflection with both the parents and teens.

Each week, during the school year, parents (or others) interceed for the teens at Life Teen during our Life Nights. Our goal is to have at least one person interceeding in front of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:00 - 9:00, and another from 9:00 - 10:00 each Sunday that has a Life Night scheduled. If you're available to help, send an email to Brad Schmidt.
