"Gotten us on the same page & working together." "Shown us the light at the end of the tunnel." "Given us clarity and hope." These are just a few of the comments that past attendees have made about Financial Peace University, a Biblically-based small group study with videos featuring Christian financial counselor Dave Ramsey. Christ the King is once more offering this popular 13-week seminar beginning Monday, Feb. 13, 7-9 p.m. in the Parish Center, with an optional free preview on Monday, Feb. 6, 7-8 p.m. It's great for young adults, singles, engaged and married couples--anyone looking for help managing their money in these difficult times. The lifetime membership allows you to repeat part or all of the class at any location offering FPU at any time! One class membership covers a single person, or an engaged or married couple; a married couple may bring teens still living at home. Cost, including all materials, is $100 when obtained through Christ the King. (Limited financial help is available for registered Christ the King members. Contact Theresa in the parish office for more information.) Space is limited. To reserve your seat for the class, register by clicking on the logo at the start of this message. (Ignore the map that they give; follow the directions in the "Special Notes" instead.) Questions? To correct the threats to religious liberty and rights of conscience posed by the recent HHS contraceptive mandate, the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act has been introduced in Congress (H.R. 1179, S. 1467). This measure will ensure that those who participate in the health care system "retain the right to provide, purchase, or enroll in health coverage that is consistent with their religious beliefs and moral convictions." It is more important than ever that Members of Congress be urged to co-sponsor this measure. I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts.--Blessed Teresa of Calcutta |
