What follows is the particular calendar celebrated by members of the Discalced Carmelite Orders. They follow this calendar in addition to the general calendar of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. A celebration designated "Opt. Memorial" (Optional Memorial) may or may not be celebrated, at the individual's discretion. A "Memorial" (also referred to as an "Obligatory Memorial") as well as the Feasts and Solemnities must be celebrated by all who are required to follow the Carmelite Calendar, e.g. priests and brothers of the First Order, the nuns of the Second Order, and the professed lay or religious or cleric members of the Third Order. Those others who have a particular devotion to Carmel, e.g. those enrolled in the Brown Scapular, may also celebrate this calendar. The "Table of Liturgical Days" from the "General Norms for the Liturgical Year" governs what to do when different celebrations fall on the same day.
