Holy Spirit Seminar coming Feb. 13! Our next Holy Spirit Seminar will be offered at Christ the King on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010. This seminar is a time to set aside and renew our sight of the vision of eternal life with God. It is a time to focus on and grow in our relationship with God. It includes a set of teachings and activities about various aspects of the Charismatic life that includes personal prayer to receive more of the anointing of the Holy Spirit and His spiritual gifts. The seminar starts with registration at 8:15 a.m. and Mass at 9:00 a.m., both in the Church. The seminar itself is from 10:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. A fee of $12 will cover materials and lunch. Early registration will take place after all the Sunday Masses on Jan. 24, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7. Unbound Conference coming to Ann Arbor on March 5-6, 2010
What is "UNBOUND" anyway? It is a model of prayer developed by Neal and Janet Lozano that empowers people to overcome negative patterns of thought and behavior, habitual sins, and other forms of oppression. When you learn to use the keys of repentance, faith, forgiveness, renunciation, and blessing, you will gain victory in the spiritual battles you face every day. Unbound is not old-style 'deliverance' that depends on the anointing of the prayer minister, nor is it counseling or spiritual direction; rather, Unbound prayer ministers stand with you in prayer and provide gentle, confidential support as you claim your freedom. If you want to learn more about this teaching, make plans to attend the Unbound Conference on March 5 and 6 in Ann Arbor -- find the registration form here

New GoodSearch/GoodShop toolbar for Christ the King! Great news: Christ the King now has its own GoodSearch/GoodShop toolbar! Once added to IE or Firefox, each time you shop at more than 1,300 stores (from Amazon to Zazzle!) a percentage of your purchase will automatically be donated to our parish at no cost to you. The toolbar provides coupons and notifies you of deals at stores you're shopping as well. The toolbar also has a search box; each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to Christ the King. To download the CTK GoodSearch/GoodShop toolbar, just go to
www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/christ-the-king-catholic-church-ann-arbor and follow the instructions. Please pass this along to all your friends. The two minutes it takes to add this toolbar to your browser can make a big difference to the parish!

Elizabeth Ministry Volunteer Questionnaire available online The Elizabeth Ministry at Christ the King is a ministry of women serving other women and their families in special times of need arising from a life-changing event, such as childbirth, illness, death or a family crisis. Typically, volunteers help with short-term practical needs, such as providing meals, transportation or childcare, or doing laundry or grocery shopping. We also try to provide support, understanding, or friendship for women experiencing special challenges in their life, such as a difficult pregnancy, miscarriage, raising children with special needs, or the loss of a loved one. We are not professional counselors, but simply sisters in the Lord who may have experienced a similar trial and can offer some personal support in a difficult time.
Please prayerfully consider if you might be willing and able to join others in the parish in providing this needed service. Your commitment can be as small as providing a meal or going grocery shopping once or twice a year to making meals on a weekly or monthly basis. The more volunteers we have available, the more families we can serve. We are also compiling a list of names of people who might be able to assist in providing a food item for or serving at funeral luncheons as needed.

I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts.--Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
