Pentecost Weekend Events
Watch the Pentecost Vigil Mass online! The wonderful volunteers who enabled us to broadcast the Easter Vigil Mass on the Web are coming together again to help us broadcast the Pentecost Vigil Mass this Saturday, May 26. The Pentecost Vigil Mass starts at 7:00 p.m. EDT. You will need to download Microsoft Silverlight to watch the Vigil Mass on the player shown below. If you don't already have it, you can download it at the Microsoft Web site by clicking here. If you have trouble with Microsoft Silverlight, you may click here to view the broadcast using Windows Media Player. You may see some delays with either method of viewing, depending on the speed of your connection, as the system "buffers" the broadcast. Please pray that everything goes smoothly, as well as a prayer of thanks for the volunteers who are again making this broadcast possible. Come, Holy Spirit! Michigan Catholic Conference files lawsuit against Federal government over HHS Mandate On May 21, 2012, the Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) filed documents in U.S. District Court as a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging the mandate established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that requires many faith-based employers to provide in their health benefit plans abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization and artificial contraception, all of which the Catholic Church finds morally objectionable. Since 1970, the MCC has provided employees of the state’s seven arch/dioceses and their institutions with a medical insurance benefit. Today, over 10,000 Catholic institution employees and their dependents receive the medical benefit from MCC. The MCC was one of 43 different Catholic organizations filing a total of 12 lawsuits in Federal court on May 21. For more information about the MCC lawsuit, go to the MCC Web site. For the latest updates on the battle to protect our First Amendment rights, go to the Diocese of Lansing Web site or the Conscience Protection site for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Now to help you learn it, you can listen to the music online! Just click on this link to go to the ILP Music Web site. On the page that will appear, find the player with all the Mass parts for the Mass of Christ the King listed. The first item, the Kyrie, will start playing. Click on the "Glory to God" to listen to the music and join in praising God!Bishop Earl Boyea releases pastoral letter on Evangelization As Fr. Ed mentioned in his Easter Vigil homily, on Holy Thursday Bishop Earl Boyea of the Diocese of Lansing released his first pastoral letter, "Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord." In it, Bishop Boyea addresses the urgent need for evangelization and calls all of the lay faithful to go forth as witnesses for Christ and to welcome back our brothers and sisters who are no longer active in our parish communities. To read the pastoral letter, click here. Prayer meeting schedule Come join us at one of our charismatic prayer meetings as we praise and worship the King of Kings!

I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts.--Blessed Teresa of Calcutta |
