Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women - 2010

Mary K Callagan, President; Sharon Kizewski, Vice-President; Kathy Sailer, Treasurer; Christine Lockman, Secretary.

The Parish Council of Catholic Women is an organization of active members in our parish that is part of the Wisconsin Rapids Deanery and a part of the Diocesan Council of La Crosse.  Together they work toward the support, education and improvement of Catholic Women in Leadership, Spirituality and Service.  Every woman of Sacred Heart Parish is eligible and welcome to be an active member.  We/They meet the first Tuesday of each month.

Each year we undertake a number of projects as fundraisers so that we might contribute to various needs locally and worldwide.  Some of these include Nekoosa Boys & Girls Club, Ronald McDonald House, Family Center, Covenant House, Milk Project, Water for Life, our sister parish in Pinion Arizona and more.  We also provide partial scholarships to Sacred Heart students attending Assumption High School and give generously to our parish, as well as the improvements and equipment needed for our kitchen and dining room.

Some of our fundraisers include our annual "Souper Bowl Sunday." Each year on the weekend before the Super Bowl, we sponsor our "famous" and delicious chicken chowder and bake sale.  In the fall, we sponsor the Pumpkin Pie Sale at Pumpkin Fest.  New to our projects is Heart of Nekoosa Sacred Heart Holiday Bazaar the second Sunday of November.

We are also bringing back Sacred Heart Sunday Socials that will be on the second Sunday of every month.  It will vary on what is served ... from sweet rolls to coffee cakes and ice cream sundaes during the hot summer months, along with some kind of beverage.

PCCW members also prepare and serve funeral brunches for Sacred Heart Parish members.

Our biggest project for 2010 is going to be raising money through bake sales and donations from parish members for new vestments for Father John, new garments for our servers, new altar cloths and a new funeral pall.

All of these activities promote the feeling of family, which is one of our social goals, as well as the spiritual well-being of our parish.
