Knights of Columbus Council # 12662 of Nekoosa/Port Edwards was chartered April 9, 2000. It is a Catholic Men's Fraternal benefit society. The distinguishing marks of the Knights are Faith, fellowship and philanthropy. Our council looks at the local needs of Church, community, council, family and youth and establishes goals for providing resources and assistance in these areas. An example of church-related activities is the support of church devotions, such as, Eucharistic Adoration and recitation of the rosary through the distribution of rosary rings to all members of the parish. Community-relate activities have been support for Respect for Life programs and fund raising to support special education in our local school system.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practical Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who shall not be less than 18 years of age on their last birthday. A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the Precepts of the Church. Catholic men interested in joining may call the Membership Director, Fred Reichert, at 886-4584. Every Knight is happy to propose eligible Catholic men for consideration as members.
The Grand Knight, or leader of our local council, is Al Woyak.
