CWS contribution for Iraqi war victims

KUCHING -
Titus Chuo and officers of the Catholic Welfare Services (CWS) presented a cheque of RM20,000 to Archbishop Peter Chung on 17 June for the Humanitarian Fund for war victims in Iraq.

The generosity of Catholics in the Archdiocese during the recent Lenten Appeal 2003 generated a total of RM207,000 in collection by the CWS. This represents a significant jump from the RM64,000 collected during the Lenten Appeal 2002.

The grants given out in 2002 by the CWS were as follows: CWS welfare work (RM63,000); through Society of St Vincent de Paul (RM64,000); through parishes especially in the rural areas (RM58,000).

The CWS wishes to thank all Catholics for their generosity which has enabled the CWS to render material assistance to many, regardless of race or creed, who are in need.
