STAMPIN -
The newest Parish in the Archdiocese, Blessed Sacrament Parish, celebrated their first feast day on Corpus Christi.
Archbishop Peter Chung together with parish priest, Fr Lawrence Chua, led the celebration on 21 June. This was well supported by many parishioners who joined a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from the altar of the Church to the Grotto where there was Benediction. The worship song there was led by the children from Jesus Kids.
This celebration marked an emerging community of faith that has seen a wealth of activities since its birth in December last year. After an eventful Easter celebration in April, the Parish has been involved in a whirl of activities, which include:
March: Forming of the Parish Council and all committees to help run the Parish.
April: Holy Week and Easter celebrations. Commissioning of various groups such as Parish Councillors, readers, altar servers and wardens; Novena of Divine Mercy - starting on Good Friday (18-26 April); Feast of Divine Mercy was celebrated on Divine Mercy Sunday on 27 April with murch reverence. This was followed by a special Holy Hour that afternoon beginning at 3pm, the Hour of Mercy. The nine-day prayer, Mass and Holy Hour was supported with a very large turnout by parishioners.
May: Nightly recitation of the rosary led by the English and Chinese Block Rosary groups; Formation of the first group of the Chinese Legion of Mary; first Holy Hour to be held monthly for all serving in the lay ministries; Vocation Triduum; Ascension cum Gawai Mass; Novena to the Holy Spirit.
June: Nine-day prayer to the Holy Spirit in preparation for Pentecost; Pentecost, a three-hour Mass concelebrated by Parish Priest Fr Lawrence Chua and Fr Leonardo Polinar from the Philippines; Holy Hour; Parish Feast Day (Corpus Christi).
