Recollection for voluntary religion teachers

KOTA PADAWAN -
About 35 voluntary religion teachers, youths of the Parish Youth Movement (PYM) and representatives from the various kampungs in St Ann’s Parish gathered from 12-13 July at the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) at Mt Singai for a recollection.

The recollection was organised by the Parish Catechetical Committee mainly for voluntary religion teachers and aspirant religion teachers.

During the two-day recollection the participants listened to talks given by Bro Jivan OFM. There were also sessions for Bible study and a workshop and sharings given by some religion teachers.

Bro Jivan told the participants that the recollection was a pause from field work that afforded time to look deeper into their roles as religion teachers and into themselves in the light of passages from the Bible. He also said the apostolate of the religion teacher was a calling.

The programme for the recollection included time for prayer, Confession, reflection and fellowship with fellow participants in a pleasant and peaceful environment.

The participants were accompanied by Friar Arul OFM, their Parish Priest. The recollection concluded with a Mass held at the CMPC Chapel, concelebrated by Friar Arul OFM and Fr Joseph Chai of St Stephen’s Parish, Bau.
