Lord, I See |
Lord , I make a joyful noise to praise you as I
See how the mother hen sits on her eggs
Soon small chicks will emerge and she’ll be glad .
Listen to the crickets ; how they sing
Or to the distant bells that ring
Small fireflies with flickering lamps so dim
As they visit the dark night in our dream
See how the woods have weathered and grow
Every tree has its stories of yesterday and tomorrow .
How the wind whistles its songs through the tree
How the rain , the sunshine make our thoughts free
The daily occurrence of sunsets ; best seen from cliff top
How the migrating birds fly north without a stop
See the look of innocence in a child’s eyes
At a stranger’s glance he turns away shy
Pedal a bike round the park or down the hill
Feel the thrill of speed and the wind chill
Wear your gum boot and walk on the road
Jump round like a bird , an insect or even a toad
For to be able to move is a blessing only missed
When you are bed-ridden when old age comes hiss .
Listen to the sea and the forests’ sound
Every time , the earth makes its round
Past the church towers see the time
Every single minute ticks its rhyme
Smile to the camera as it takes the photo of you
It registers image of you in moments so true
Put way the cigarette , put in your mouth ice cream
I am sure you’ll like the raisins and the cream
When electric‘s off ; it’s dark ; light a candle
As its flame flare to life ; sing a song jingle
Make imaginary noise to chase away imaginary pain
I am sure you like sunshine after the rain ,
Write you poem , recite them , bring them around
Say , thank God each time you are homeward-bound .
For we are alive and kicking ! God be praised !
Lord , what else do I want from you !
