Life Here And There

I particularly like this beautiful hymn. I sing it at home while doing
household Chores and especially in the bathroom. Its lyrics go like this:

O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The worlds Thy hands hat made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed

Yes, it is true. God's creation is immense. If we take an evening stroll,
what so we see along the road ? Trees and shrubs of all sorts meet our eyes. The foliage in their different shades of green delight us
and bring a peaceful feeling to our souls.

If we by chance look up the sky with its golden crimson colours, we will know we are actually very rich. We can enjoy beautiful sunsets, the wonders of nature and even breathe in fresh clean air.

So we must be thankful to God for all that He has done for us.
To show our gratitude we should include our Creator in our daily life.
We can open the doors of our hearts to Him and leave materialism out.
We needn't worry too much about worldly cares as God has a way to get us through it all.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow,
They toil not
Neither do they spin,
Yet I say unto you
That even Solomon in all his glory
Was not arrayed like one of these.

(Matthew 6:28-30)

However, life itself is not all moonlight and roses. We have to sweat, toil and spin to earn our daily bread , pay our bills and our children's education. If we are the lucky ones who eat bread spread with honey and butter, we have to think of the less fortunate ones who can hardly make both ends meet.

That's what the Sacred Heart Charity Outreach Services of St. Peter's Church, Kudat, has been doing. Besides visiting the sick and the elderly people regardless of race or religion we, the members, also bring food supplies monthly to the very poor and needy. It breaks your heart to see how many families live on the brink of poverty at the outskirts of the town.

My husband and I happened to be at the Sipadan Island early March this year for a week or so. It was quite an experience to see the crystal clear sea water and its abundance of marine life. Taking a stroll along the beach, seeing all those gigantic trees growing tall and stretching their branches to the sky, feels us with awe at the marvel of God's creations. This is a sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustles of the outside world.

Yes, life has its ups and downs, sunshine and rain. But we should go one living a good Christian life, with a will to follow the straight and narrow path, which will lead us to an everlasting life with God in Heaven.
