Kudat celebrates Feast of St. Peter and Paul
|
Parishioners of St. Peter's Church here saw a celebration in honour of their patron saints as an opportunity to experience communion.
Based on the theme : "One Family, One Parish" they participated in all the activities held to mark St. Peter and St. Paul's day on July 2.
The Catholic Church commemorates the feast June 29 every year.
Attended also by faithful from the Taipa and Tajau outstations, it started with a Holy Mass celebration at 8.30 am presided by the parish priest, Fr. Tobias Chi.
In his homily, Fr. Chi said St. Peter was just an ordinary man called by Jesus to become his followers but was later entrusted to head the church.
"We must not think that saints are super human beings for they are like us too. However we must use their good points to overcome our weakness," he said.
He said, "Peter had a simple and happy disposition."
He was like a child who could sleep soundly even in prison that even the angel who came to release him, had a hard time waking him up.
The faithful proceeded to the Fr. De Wit's Memorial Hall after the Eucharistic Celebration to witness the opening of an exhibition which displayed the history of the Catholic mission and schools in
Kudat.
