Founded in 1921 in Dublin, the Legion of Mary continues to spread and make known Our Lord Jesus through Mary, His mother. It is an association of Catholic laity which helps conversion of souls through the immense intercessory power of Our Lady who is the divinity appointed mediatrix of all graces. Membership is open to men and women, married or single, to boys and girls. |
The first presidium in St. Peter's Parish, Kudat was founded in July 1999. Besides the weekly meeting, the activities include hospital and home visitation. Members visit and comfort the old and the sick at homes or in hospital and at the same time encourage lapsed Catholics to attend the Holy Mass. Daily Rosary and litany of Our Lady are the daily prayers for the members.
The members are also encouraged to take part in outward-bound activities such as pilgrimages. Last year some members attended the Cultural-Exchange Meeting in Malacca at the end of the month May. This year saw six members attended the 11TH anniversary of Legion of Mary in Sacred Heart Cathedral Kota
Kinabalu.
