On December 22, 1999, St. Paul Church
held the Living Nativity, an evening of peace. Parishioners of all generations--from
grandparents to an infant--presented the story of God's great Gift to us.
These pictures were taken the previous night at
the dress rehearsal.

Uplifting music was presented by our Folk Group. The Folk Group was enhanced by
voices from the Sanctuary Choir and students who had returned home from college for
Christmas.

Mary sings a hymn as she spins wool in anticipation of her wedding.

Mary is greeted enthusiatically by her cousin, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth and Mary spend time sharing and encouraging each other as each awaits the birth
of a miraculous son.

Elizabeth gazes fondly at the baby she never thought she'd be able to have.

Elizabeth shares her joy in her son with a friend.
(In real life, the friend is the baby's mother!)

Angels attend Mary after the birth of Jesus.

A shepherd boy tells his tale.

The Wise Men arrive bearing gifts for the newborn King.

One of the Magi relates the story of his journey from the East.

Shepherds join Mary in adoration of the infant Jesus.

Mary delightedly shows her newborn baby to a curious shepherd child.
Many thanks to all the
muscians, readers and actors who brought the story of the Nativity to life. They
helped all those who were present to feel the peaceful joy of Christmas by reminding us
that at the centre of it all is the Mystery of God's love for us manifesting itself as
what would seem to be an ordinary event--the birth of a baby--but which is really a
miracle with the power of transforming our lives.
Special thanks to LouAnn Warren, who initiated, wrote and directed
the Living Nativity.
