St Mary School Mission Statement
The mission of St Mary School is to develop the God-given talents of
our students spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually.
As members of the Catholic community, and as individuals, we are
empowered to proclaim and live the Gospel message of Christ Jesus.
To implement this mission, we can identify specific goals we wish to accomplish
in our School effort.
- The Word of God in their hearts:
a thorough knowledge of Scripture
in-depth knowledge of Catholic doctrine
familiarity with Church history
clear understanding of Catholic morality, both personal and
social
awareness of the mystery of sin and the call to repentance
- Worship life
a developed prayer life, both personal and liturgical
a healthy self-concept and a strong bonding to the community of
the Church
- A life of Christian service
discernment of a personal vocation for the Kingdom of God rather than
a life of purely
materialistic
gain
an active concern for social justice
a preferential option for the poor
- Academic and physical development
high standards in a liberal arts curriculum of language,
communication
skills, mathematics,
literature and the arts
a strong science curriculum grounded on a responsible
stewardship of the earth
a social studies curriculum that prepares students to
participate actively and
responsibly in
political and social life
development of physical well-being and an appreciation of
self-worth through
recreational and
competitive sports
