Today is CSA Sunday
Today is the day throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit that we give our support to the many good works that are done on the Archdiocese level. We do our part on a parish level to help the outreach that we do as a Catholic Church in Southeastern Michigan.

We have a parish target of $127,009. In order to reach our target, l am calling upon all parishioners to help. Please use the envelope that was mailed to you. If for some reason you did not receive one, we have them available for you in the pews.

I thank all of you who made your donation or pledge today. You have done this as an expression of our faith and your desire to help the archdiocese and our parish. If you were not able to contribute today, I ask you to please do so by mail this week or bring it to Mass next week-end.  As I have mentioned before, I will be very grateful and happy when we reach our goal.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Fr. McEnhill

Wear Red Next Sunday!
We celebrate the solemn feast of Pentecost next Sunday. It is the "birthday of the church," the third most important feast on the Church calendar. It is a day in which we ask for the continued presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the church.

The liturgical color for the feast is red. May I suggest that you wear red next weekend as a way to get into the "spirit" of the day.

You have just heard the taped message from Cardinal Maida asking you to give your support to the 2008 Catholic Services Appeal. And a member of the Stewardship Commission urged you to help our parish reach our target as we do our part to support the mission and the good works of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

This week you will be receiving in the mail a donation card and envelope along with literature describing this year’s appeal. Next week-end is CSA weekend throughout the Archdiocese. I ask you, if at all possible, to make your donation or pledge next weekend. If you did not donate last year, please help us this year. If you donated last year, please consider raising your gift this year. If you are a regular visitor to our parish and would like to help us out, it will be greatly appreciated. It makes things very difficult for me when we do not reach our target (this year’s target is $127,009). I have to focus attention on the C.S.A. when there are a lot of other things we could be doing at the parish and school level.

So in the spirit of sharing what we have and realizing a certain responsibility that we share as Catholics in the mission of the Church, I ask you to be generous to the CSA and help me and most importantly our parish and Archdiocese.

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL
Sunday, May 4 is CSA Sunday. We have begun preparing for this as we have already started the advanced gift phase of the drive. Next weekend at all the Masses you will hear a taped homily from Cardinal Maida that will promote the good works of the CSA. Then there will be a mailing sent to everyone with some more information and your pledge card. Most of you are familiar with the procedure. Because this is so important to the Archdiocese and to our parish, I am praying that you will be able to generously respond. Please help us out!

Our parish has truly been blessed this past week with the presence of Fr. Simeon Gallagher, OFM Cap who led us on a very inspiring parish mission. For all who participated in the mission, his reflections brought much food for thought that will allow us to grow further in our faith and in our relationships. I know the fruits of this mission will bring many graces to our parish spirit.

Read more about the mission on page 3 in an article writ-ten by Mary Theisen, who did excellent work in coordinating the mission.

CSA
The Archdiocesan Catholic Services Appeal will soon be upon us. CSA Sunday is May 4. We have begun preparing for this very important effort. In fact, I have already begun the advanced gifts phase of the drive. Most of you are familiar with all the good works that are accomplished through this appeal. As you receive the literature, I hope that you can respond and be generous. Your donation helps not only the Archdiocese but our parish as well.
