November 15th

First Reconciliation Retreat
Saturday, November 21st. 3-6pm
This retreat is for the students who have been preparing to receive their First Reconciliation this December. A parent or adult family member will need to attend this retreat along with your child.

We will begin at 3pm in the Social Hall. Remember to bring with you, your completed Reconciliation textbook. You will need to turn this in at the retreat.

We will be attending the 5pm Mass together so please dress appropriately. If you have any questions you may contact the Religious Education Office at (248) 682 -6381 or e-mail olrmarianne@yahoo.com.

Next week in our Monday program we will be having our Thanksgiving prayer service at 5:45pm in the Church. Students are asked to bring in a canned good to donate to the parish food pantry. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.

Family Catechesis-Thank You
Thank you to Mrs. Gale Jolly for being our guest speaker at this month’s Family Catechesis session. She generously gave up her Saturday afternoon to share her faith with us. We were all enriched by her knowledge of the Old Testament and the Bible.

Religious Education-Toy Drive
The students in our Religious Education Program are asked to donate a new toy for those less fortunate. The toys we collect will be given out to children at the Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit.

Students should bring the unwrapped toys to their Religion class. We will collecting toys until Monday, December 14th.

Toy Suggestions: Legos, Puzzles, Play Dough Sets, Games, Craft Kits, Books.

Seminary Field Trip
Students in grade 6+ are invited to attend a field trip to Sacred Heart Seminary on Wednesday, November 11th. We will leave from OLR at 5:30pm and return by 8:30pm. The cost of this trip is $10 per student, this includes a pizza dinner. For more details contact the RE Office at (248) 682-6381.

Share the Bounty
This Halloween the students of Our Lady of Refuge are asked to donate some of their best trick-or-treat bounty. Some of these treats will be included in our Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. More bounty will be included in homemade Christmas stockings along with notes announcing God’s greatest gift to us “Jesus is the sweetest gift!” These stockings will be given to the less fortunate children in the surrounding area.

Feel free to drop it by the Religious Education Office. If you have any questions on what to donate, please call the office.

November 1st

News
Each month in our Religious Education Program we have a prayer service that is lead by the students. This month Mrs. Arseth and Mrs. Seifert’s 5th grade class will be leading our Thanksgiving Prayer Service. They will prepare for this during the next couple of weeks and we will gather on Monday, November 16th at 5:45pm in the Church. Parents and family members are invited.

Shoe Boxes Needed
We will be making “Giving Thanks” prayer boxes with our students in our Religious Education Program. To do this we need to collect shoe boxes for the students to decorate and fill with their prayers.

Shoe box donations can be dropped off to the Religious Education Office or placed in the box inside the Social Hall. Questions call Marianne (248) 682-6381 or olrmarianne@yahoo.com.
