St. Thomas a'Becket

The Sacrament

Confirmation is a strengthening of one's Baptismal experiences and the promises to follow Jesus Christ connected with Baptism. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured forth upon those who believed in Christ; at Confirmation, the same Holy Spirit is given to enliven our gifts and talents and to strengthen us to follow in the Lord's footsteps.

Preparation for Confirmation

Students who have successfully completed the 7th year Religious Education Classes are eligible to enroll in the 8th year which concentrates on preparation for Confirmation. Students are expected to successfully complete their class requirements as well as their responsibilities as explained in their Confirmation Enrollment.

Confirmation for Adults

Adults are normally prepared for Baptism/Confirmation through the process called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). This takes an indeterminate amount of time and preparation, depending on the background and readiness of the individual. Contact Alan Arnett at (734) 981-1333 if you have any questions regarding RCIA.
