Fr. Peyton's Pen....

First, I would like to welcome to the parish an OA group
(Overeaters anonymous) which will be meeting here beginning this
Thursday, Sept. 2, from 7:30-8:30pm. The group will meet in the
Scout room in the State road building. Secondly, I would like to
thank parishioners who have made some special contributions to
the parish either for utilities or as a way to help the parish. These
contributions have ranged from $100 to just over $300. Thank you!!
Special contributions help the parish to meet its financial obligations
and to provide ministerial services. Finally, I want to welcome back
the students and faculty of our school and wish them a wonderful year.
School Masses will begin this coming Tuesday (Aug. 31) at 8:45am.
Parishioners are always welcome to participate in these liturgies.
(Please note that those who gather for rosary and other morning
prayers before daily Mass will beginning the prayers earlier on
Tuesdays so they can be finished, allowing the children to practice
music at 8:30am before the Mass. New Homes!! ± This past week
several volunteers removed 2 pews along the north and south walls
of the church to make room to bring forward the statue of St. Francis
de Sales and bring the statue of St. Anne (when it comes back from
being refurbished) into the church. This is being done in response to the
requests of parishioners which were voted in last year's Listening
Sessions to find a more prominent place for these statues. In the next
few weeksthe churche's original stone Baptismal font (which matches
the holy water fonts at the church entrances) will be placed in front
of the St. Francis de Sales statue. This will make room for the
Instruments and voices of New Hope Group which will provide music
ministries at the 11:00am Mass beginning in September, to be in front of
the side altar on the north side of the church. (A rack of vigil lights will
be in front of the St. Anne statue.)

Mass Intentions—

There are many openings for Mass intentions for 2010. The tradition of Mass intentions
comes from the Spiritual Work of Mercy to pray for the living and the deceased. When Mass
is offered for the intention of a person who is either deceased or living, the prayers of the
people at the Mass assist the person for whom the Mass is offered. The stipend (offering)
for a Mass is $10.00 and can be arranged for in the parish office. What better way to pray for
someone than to have a Mass offered for his/her intention!

Are You A Registered Member?

just because you attend Mass here. If you have not come into the rectory office to
fill out a registration form and are not receiving envelopes, we have no record of
you. Newly married couples who choose to remain at St. Francis de Sales must
also register as a new family. Without a record, we would be unable to help you
when you wish to get married, have a child baptized, are ill, or in the hospital,
or are asked to act as a sponsor or to be a Godparent. To be a Godparent or
Confirmation sponsor you must have a certificate from us stating that you are a
practicing Catholic, which we would not be able to issue without having a record
of your membership. Please call the rectory office at 440-884-2319 with any
questions or for further information.
