From the Pastor's Desk....

Since I was away this past week fulfilling one of my “bucket list”
items my column this week will be rather short. I do want to encourage everyone to
make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation to celebrate Christmas.
Consult the article about Confessions in this bulletin for days and times the
Sacrament will be available this week. As families you probably have many family
traditions to celebrate Christmas. Why not start a new, family Christmas
tradition – coming as a family to confession? It just might be the best Christmas
tradition your family will have!........Please note that the Parish Office will be closed
Dec. 23 (Saturday) through Dec. 26 (Monday). The office will re-open for
business on Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, at 8:30 A.M.
Fr. Peyton

Christmas Angels

The SFDS Social Justice Christmas Angel tree will be up THIS WEEKEND, Dec. 3rd & 4th.
If you decide to take an angel, the gifts are due back to church the weekend of Dec. 17-18.
Presents that arrive after Dec. 18th cannot be delivered. We look forward to another
successful angel season, when you brighten the lives of less fortunate children

Christmas Mass Schedule

The celebration of Christmas is Dec. 24 – 25. Christmas Eve Masses will be
at 4:30 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. Christmas Day Masses will be at 8:30 A.M. and
11:00 A.M. Since Christmas is on a Sunday this year please be sure to use
your regular Sunday offering envelope for your normal weekly contribution and
the Christmas offering envelope for your Christmas gift to the parish. Wage
earners are asked to consider a gift of at least $50.00 to the parish for Christmas.
Your generosity is appreciated greatly! Please note – the parish office will be
closed on Saturday, Dec. 24 and on Monday, Dec. 26.

short supply. Thank you for all your help

R.C.I.A

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process for non-Catholics who
are interested in joining the Catholic Church and for Catholic adults who have been
baptized but have not made First Communion or Confirmation to either be baptized
or received into the Church or to complete initiation into the Church. The RCIA begins
in September and meets every Monday evening, culminating with the celebration of the
Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation) at the Easter Vigil Service
on Holy Saturday evening (April 7, 2012). RCIA sessions are held jointly with St. Anthony
of Padua at St. Anthony’s. If you or someone you know is interested in or has questions
about the RCIA, please contact Fr. Peyton at the Parish Office (440-884-2319).

Mass Intentions—

There are many openings for Mass intentions for 2010. The tradition of Mass intentions
comes from the Spiritual Work of Mercy to pray for the living and the deceased. When Mass
is offered for the intention of a person who is either deceased or living, the prayers of the
people at the Mass assist the person for whom the Mass is offered. The stipend (offering)
for a Mass is $10.00 and can be arranged for in the parish office. What better way to pray for
someone than to have a Mass offered for his/her intention!

Can you Help

We have a few parishioners who are in need of a ride to church. If you can

Are You A Registered Member?

Please do not assume you are a registered member of St. Francis de Sales Parish
just because you attend Mass here. If you have not come into the rectory office to
fill out a registration form and are not receiving envelopes, we have no record of
you. Newly married couples who choose to remain at St. Francis de Sales must
also register as a new family. Without a record, we would be unable to help you
when you wish to get married, have a child baptized, are ill, or in the hospital,
or are asked to act as a sponsor or to be a Godparent. To be a Godparent or
Confirmation sponsor you must have a certificate from us stating that you are a
practicing Catholic, which we would not be able to issue without having a record
of your membership. Please call the rectory office at 440-884-2319 with any
questions or for further information.

Parish Bulletin Articles

Bulletin articles are due in the parish office 10 days before they are to be
published. This is a firm deadline. It makes it hard to get all of the articles
in correctly when they are handed in at the last minute ! Thank You !
