HISTORY
Since 2007, a new
board of directors maintains the cemetery grounds.
In 2009, the board was assigned
the responsibility of administering, by the Parish of Sainte Anne, these sacred grounds. At this point an
active restoration program was put into effect. In the older part of the
cemetery, records are verified, monuments are evaluated and if repair or
replacement is needed, families are contacted with this information.
To be noted, present policy encourages families to place all memorials on a
granite base and a proper foundation (the Committee needs to be consulted before any modifications are carried out).
The Enfant-Jésus
Heritage Site Corporation, in collaboration with the Diocese of Saint Boniface,
has established a Perpetual Care Fund in which the capital remains in trust but
the yearly interest is used for cemetery maintenance. When purchasing a plot or
upon burial of a previously bought plot, a one-time payment of the perpetual care
fee is required. |
Stone monuments
with granite bases, only, (markers no longer allowed)
are to be installed in
the cemetery. Please note that the cemetery is Catholic and of a
historical
nature; when planning to place a memorial, these should be taken into
consideration whenever possible. Within a year of the purchase of a
lot, the
purchaser is encouraged to place a memorial on the plot as part of
pre-planning. Upon burial in the plot, a monument must be purchased and
installed within one year. At
the moment, there are many plots in our cemetery that do not have a
monument.
As there are no runways in the older part of the cemetery, the Cemetery
Committee of the Enfant-Jésus Heritage Site Corporation has undertaken
a proactive approach in collaboration with families to install
foundations, granite bases and replace damaged monuments.
Where there are unmarked graves, family members are asked to have a memorial installed.
For those who have ancestors or family members buried in the cemetery, we invite you to assist us in these restoration projects.

Ashes in an urn
need to be interred within a few days of death. The ashes are considered to be, like the
body, the temple of the spirit. Storage of ashes in one’s home or spreading of
the ashes is not reflective of the Catholic faith.
For cleaning, painting
the letters, or inscribing a new epitaph, memorial firms can be contacted for
these tasks. If you do not have a company in mind when modifying/repairing a monument, purchasing a monument,
or a granite base, we encourage you to consult with the Committee for
suggestions.
For any activity
that you may plan in the cemetery or for additional information, please
inform/contact Patricia or Marcel at 204-422-6880.
Help make our Enfant-Jésus Cemetery
a place of dignity and respect for all those who may enter these sacred
grounds.
