Way of the Cross 2007 On Good Friday, April 6, the English Youth Group and the Groupe Jeunesse «Sel et Lumière» presented their bilingual re-enactment of the Way of the Cross for the parish. The evening was opened by Brenda Saltel and Michelle Marchildon who are the English and French youth coordinators. The presentation contrasted the historical version of the Way of the Cross with a modern interpretation which included short skits which demonstrated how the message of the Cross can be applied to our lives today. Father Armand then shared part of his personal journey with us, so as to give us an example of living in hope. He shared a time when he became so exhausted that he could not continue his priestly ministry. After a time away from priestly ministry, which included rest, professional help, and even going into the work force, he told us how he was able to return to active priestly ministry. He said that the support, understanding and the prayers of many helped him on the journey. After what seems like suffering and death, there is always some type of resurrection or new life. Live in hope!! The Youth presentation was very well done and received an enthusiastic response from the congregation. Many hours of writing, practices, prop and costume development, and other preparation went into their presentation. After the presentation we had the opportunity to meet all the participants at the back of the church. Thanks to the Youth for their hard work and thanks to Brenda and Michelle for leading the youth in this presentation. |
