The greatest gift a parent can give their children is love. Second only to that love, and perhaps part of it, is the gift of education.
Recent attendees at a national conference of Catholic educators pondered the simple question, "Why a Catholic School?" The three primary reasons for choosing a school like Christ the King are vitally important to you and your child, regardless of your religious affiliation. (Non-Catholic families should read the "Religious Education" section of the on-line handbook.)
First and foremost, Catholic schools believe in educating the whole being. To stimulate the intellect without nourishing the spiritual is to build a palace on sand.
Second, schools like Christ the King exist for so many years because they nurture relationships. The education of a young child is not like that of a college student, who may rarely have contact with their most learned professors. Visitors to our school, especially after daily class sessions have concluded, are amazed to see the interactions between students and adults - other parents and the entire staff of Christ the King, not just the teachers.
Lastly, small schools like Christ the King build and rely upon a sense of community and parental involvement. Everyone understands, at least on an intellectual level, that the education of a child is not the responsibility of the school alone. We not only believe in that philosophy, but we practice it. And we are prepared to offer our parents the academic, moral and spiritual tools they need to uphold their role.
