Organized
groups of the Brotherhood or Sisterhood meet
once a month on Saturday afternoon, because it is a good time and most people are
off work. For two meetings during the year the group has a party, inviting all.
They have them at the August meeting and
in January after the Christmas meeting.
Which Saturday of the month, will depend on the decision of the group.
The
meetings take place in the home of one of the members. No collection is
taken in public view, so as not to embarrass anyone, but we leave a
container for donations for this purpose in a special place. This
money helps to support the group and any activities they might be involved
with in their area.
The
meetings are casual. We simply discuss whatever interests us
or read a particular book in common to discuss. After the discussion,
the Rosary is said in common. The Rosary starts by asking each one if they have an intention they want remembered.
Since
the meetings are casual there are no minutes to be taken or recorded. This
is also up to each group.
Our meetings:
- enables us to talk on subjects that could not be brought up elsewhere.
- seeks answers to religious problems,
- provides an exchange of reading material,
- or just enjoy the friendship of other like-minded people.
We also provide mailing material to those who are helping us with
mailings and get help when needed for our groups. Meetings have proven to be invaluable.
Should anyone want to have meetings at their home or else-where, it would help if they would consider themselves
available to
organize the meetings and maybe send out reminders or call the members. This way
the meetings will always be attended and no one disappointed.
Meetings of our groups can be made in any place where enough members can be encouraged to meet.
The internet itself is a meeting place, we have a web group at "CatholicLaity@yahoogroups".
