Welcome
to Holy Cross Parish Redcliffe City
|
In 1997, Redcliffe City Catholic Community was named Holy Cross Parish
- Redcliffe City. This name draws on the traditions of the previous
Kippa-Ring, Redcliffe, Scarborough and Woody Point parishes. It also
emphasises the important link between parish and the resident school
- Southern Cross Catholic College. The Holy Cross of Christ 'christianises'
the Southern Cross, and the Southern Cross 'localises' the Cross of
Christ. The Cross is the central focus of our faith and the reason
for our existence.
Parish Logo
The essential element of the Holy Cross Parish Logo is Christ's Cross.
As the universal symbol of Christianity, its presence highlights who
we are and what we consider important - living according to the teachings
and beliefs of Jesus Christ.
The diamond at the heart of the logo is composed of three parts -
a reminder of the Holy Trinity. The Southern Cross captures both our
national spirit and the amalgamated college. Beneath the Southern
Cross is a gathering of people - male and female. These figures represent
Church, with an arm extended in outreach and concern. The cliffs of
our city and the stylised boat (a biblical symbol of the Universal
Church) surrounds us. The waves upon which the diamond rests recall
our life by the sea. The solid circle around these symbols captures
the unity of our family; the wavy circle speaks of our evangelism.
This unity is only strong while nailed to the Cross - a Cross that
is forever outreaching. |
