St. Barbara's (as seen by God)

Joe must have had a huge step-ladder for this shot. The view is looking south. The rectory is the rectangular building to the south of the cross-shaped church building. Plenty of parking spaces available and not much lawn to mow. "Thank God!" says Jim Power, our Facilities Manager.
US Rt 3 runs past the church and the rectory. The entrance to the lot is just south of the rectory, or just out of the picture at the upper right corner. The lot egress onto Rt 3 is at the north side of the church building, at the bottom of the picture. The start of Revere Road can be seen opposite the parking lot exit, in the lower right corner.

1999-2000 Renovations

BeforeAfter
Here we can see what the 1999-2000 renovations did to the sanctuary. The overall effect is a brighter church. The deep red carpet was removed and the entire sanctuary space was covered with marble. The blue background with its silver stars was painted over in an egg-shell color. The tapestries were changed. The wrought iron banister at the edges of the altar gave way to a sturdy wooden railing. The wood shading was lightened. And the crucifix was removed and a statue of the Risen Christ, the "Resurrection Cross", a memorial to members of the Sullivan family, was installed.
